Brief: To create a sculpture based on a St. Vincent Parrot that could be taken to the Grenadines.

I started by doing a lot of research on the internet to find out about the St. Vincent Parrot. As I have never seen one in real life I had to work from photos of the bird, so I tried to find as many pictures as I could to get a better understanding of the shape and colours.

The brief was very open so as the sculpture was going to be living in the Caribbean I decided it would be nice to include a bit of the local flora in the design so I decided to incorporate the frangipani into the perch.

The biggest concern I had with the project was that there is a high salt content in the air on the island so the possibility of rust was a big issue. I had the final piece galvanized before I painted it so it was fully protected.
